Description
Sam scrambled on top and wrapped her legs around’s one of Zoe’s. Zoe didn’t want to be on the ground, and had to expose her face and head to put her hand down on the mat. Sam took advantage, landing a couple good right hooks to Zoe’s nose and mount. Zoe’s lips started bleeding.
Zoe used her left hand to block a few shots before again attempting to stand … a couple more shots to the face from Sam.
Why isn’t she defending to guard? Mackenzie thought. It seemed obvious, but maybe not to Zoe in the thick of things. Not that Mackenzie minded, Sam was clearly winning. Zoe gave up trying to stand, and could only use her left hand to block while her right arm was trapped around the back of Sam between her and the fencing. A few more shots, and Zoe put her head down, no longer defending.
The referee stepped in between Sam and Zoe, ending the fight with a TKO victory for Sam.
“Yes, way to go Sam!” Mackenzie cheered along with the crowd.
Mackenzie watched as Zoe got up from the mat and went to Sam, hugging her heartily with smiles on both girls’ faces. She seems happy, even though she lost, Mackenzie thought.
They announced Sam as the winner and called Trey and his opponent into the cage. Trey won this time via an armbar early in the third. CSU was 2-0 heading into Ryan’s match. Mackenzie leaned forward in her chair as Ryan took the same tack as last time, overwhelming his opponent with an onslaught of punches and kicks that left him vulnerable to another rear naked choke. The match lasted 1:16 this time, and Mackenzie would later tease Ryan that he was losing his edge. Bryson fought better this time but still lost in a decision that went to his opponent in the 185 middleweight class. Heading into Lauren’s fight, CSU was 3-1 and had already won the dual match.
