Description
The crowd cheered as the referee stopped the fight for the one minute break. Mackenzie and Alexa untangled, and Mackenzie reached her designated red section just as Nate was putting down a short stool to sit on.
“You’re doing great,” Nate said as he sprayed a little water into her mouth between breaths. “Watch her kicks, keep your distance and wait for a chance to shoot in, I like your chances grappling.”
Mackenzie took deep breaths and looked across the cage at Alexa, who was doing the same. The referee came back to the center and motioned for the managers to leave. Mackenzie rose, and could feel the soreness where Alexa had kicked above her knee. She got into ready stance as the cage door was locked. The referee looked both ways and resumed the action, backing from the space between them.
Alexa was keeping her distance too, she didn’t want to get taken down, and was jabbing and kicking at good distance. Alexa controlled the center of the cage, and backed Mackenzie to the fence. Alexa threw a two punch combo, sending Mackenzie retreating. Alexa followed in and landed a big knee to Mackenzie’s stomach just above her left hip bone.
